Country Star Trace Adkins Loses Home in Fire

Country Star Trace Adkins Loses Home in Fire

Country star Trace Adkins lost his Tennessee home Saturday, after a fire tore through the house he shared with wife, three children and dog. The blaze started in the garage and spread to the attic, but luckily everyone was able to get out unharmed.

The singer, 49, and his wife were both out of town at the time of the fire, but two of their kids and a few guests were inside when the fire began.

"They ran to their safe place like we practiced, in the front yard at a big tree," Adkins' wife of 14 years, Rhonda, told CNN, explaining that the local fire department had visited the children's school earlier this year and encouraged the development of a safety plan.

Adkins got a call about the house fire while he was on a plane to Alaska. He immediately headed home upon getting the news.

"I'm just numb," his wife told The Tennessean. "I'm sad because we lost irreplaceable things like all Trace's awards and our family photos. [But] you can replace things, not people. I'm just glad that my children are safe."

A statement posted on the Celebrity Apprentice star's website read: "Trace wishes to express his gratitude for the immediate response of the Brentwood Fire Department and is humbled by the outpouring of concern from friends and fans."
