Educational Psychology

Psychology is the branch of study which deals with the human mind. Psychology aims to study the evolution of human mind, the patterns and the causes behind it. Humans have their own receptive attributes towards all objects and things, their cognition depends on their world view and experiences in life. Educational Psychology is a branch of psychology which deals with the patterns of learning in human beings. Education is essential for every human being to grow. Regardless of the conditions of it being higher education or PhD a basic education is a must for everyone to develop common knowledge and skills of reading and writing.

In Educational Psychology it has been a subject of great interest on what facilitates learning better? An informal friendly setting or a highly disciplines formal set up? Which is better; the classroom training methods, or the seminars and workshop methods or more interactive and participative methods? With the advent of great technologies such as computers and projectors and laptops, presentations are the most widely accepted method of teaching now, Educational Psychology tries to understand how well this facilitates learning in the pupils? Do these methods actually help students retain better, learn better? Or is this a period of deterioration of the power of pen, literally.

Educational Psychology is devised and developed for students and teachers alike. Today with the world becoming a singular platform to perform, teachers have students from all over the world under one roof. All different people other than creating a well mixed diversity also bring in confused and chaotic cultural clashes. All cultures have a different style of teaching and learning. If a teacher cannot cope with all the different cultures people he fails his/her duty as a teacher. So for the same Educational Psychology is of great importance, so that an expert can conduct successful lessons only by learning a few basics on the psychology of learning by the perspective of a student, taking into account their cultural backgrounds, ethics, inhibitions and contribution patterns.

Students who go abroad to study can also benefit greatly by learning and understanding the basic concepts in Educational Psychology. As a student also it might help him/her in identifying where they lack and why and possibly help them to overcome it as well.

There is continuous research being made in the fields of Educational Psychology, since in this age of growth and opportunities it is essential teachers to make the student equipped with the right skill set to deal with the outside world and at the same time, making the learning much more effective, interactive and put to good use. It helps teachers to make and maintain study plans, devising courses according to the students in the classes. And to formulate a course structure which is filled with the most effective learning tools and techniques. Education is a noble profession and hence it is the responsibility of the teacher to let the student gain as much as they can and benefit strongly from these courses and teaching practices.
